Penelope Jean Hayes

On-Camera Expert Contributor. Bestselling Author. Personal Mentor. Growth Coach. Workshop Instructor.

Through her bestselling books and magazine articles, courses and classes, personal growth coaching, and retreats, Penelope has inspired hundreds of thousands of people worldwide to better relationships, greater earning potential, and deeper happiness.

She is the author of twelve books including the popular titles The Magic of Viral Energy (2020, Morgan James Publishing) and Do Unto Earth (2021, Waterside Productions) which reached the No. 1 Bestselling Audiobook in its genre on Amazon and Audible. As a journalist, Penelope has written for HuffPost and other publications.

Penelope has appeared on television hundreds of times as an expert guest for ABC News, the Dr. Phil Show, and internationally. Her expertise is coaching personal growth through an understanding of contagious energy known as “viral energy.”

Yet, you might wonder how her journey developed...

Her first real, "adulting" job was in Public Relations for a bank, working at their head office and representing all branches. Later, she began representing individuals and this is where her career took off as a PR expert, turned publicist to celebrities, and soon referred to as a "Celebrity Publicist" by ABC News, People Magazine, GQ, Us Weekly, and the like. Specifically, she was an agent and publicist to numerous stars of ABC's The Bachelor, The Bachelorette, and Survivor, plus for series on Discovery and Animal Planet, and films and documentaries. Even today, she still gets tapped periodically for her ability to connect a celeb with a media outlet or a paid opportunity such as an appearance or brand campaign or product endorsement.

In her role as a Celebrity Publicist, she was invited by an ABC News affiliate in Charleston SC, to appear on-camera to dish on entertainment news. Then, she was invited on camera weekly, and then daily. And so, Penelope was an on-camera talent for an ABC News affiliate for 5 years as an Entertainment Analyst.

As explained in "My Why," below, she felt a deeper calling to share her own life challenges and what she learned along the way, and she did this through writing books. In 2019, she founded The Viral Energy Institute in Naples, Florida.

Today, Penelope has appeared as an expert on the Dr. Phil Show, Indus News in Pakistan, and in numerous national magazines and radio shows. She has interviewed leaders in the United States Air Force and North American Aerospace Defence Command. And, she has appeared for book readings all over the country for her title, The Magic of Viral Energy, about which her viralenology philosophy is based. With her years of experience on-camera as a host, in 2022, she was cast as Presenter for the unscripted television series Strange Evidence (Science Channel), yet the series was put on hold prior to filming.

And still, Penelope's greatest professional joy is coaching people to realize their potential, happiness, and big life dreams. Her signature method is in understanding how viral energy works and interrupting old thought patterns, and this is the basis of all modalities offered through the institute, from personal coaching sessions to online workshops and more.

My Why

It comes down to my own story and what I've learned along the way.

My passion is to empower and "tool-up" people who feel lost, lonely, or unfulfilled—like I once was, before I figured out the key to turning all that around.

For me, it took hitting rock bottom one New Year's Eve of my singlehood youth, when I was crying in turmoil on my bathroom floor, holding the side of the tub and eyeing it for what it could be used for.

Instead, that night I made a different choice and then wrote in my journal, "I'm going to drill through the rock of this tomb and then share how I did it."

A few months later, I changed everything in my life: I quit my job and moved to Nashville where I immediately began meditating daily in a nearby forest.

The meditation worked on me like a medicine. Not only did I begin to feel much happier; but I also intuited a system of creative energy while sitting still and surrounded by the forest and its animals. I had always been a journaler and a writer, so, I wrote while in the forest. Over time, those notes became the bestselling book, The Magic of Viral Energy.

Soon, I was running a business around my trademarked "viralenology" method and appearing regularly on network television. Then, I met and married my husband, Burton.

Today, we live in South Florida. Burt is a homebuilder and I've expanded my business from working one-on-one with clients to also serving many more people through the addition of online workshops, remote mentorship, guided meditation tracks, personal growth and betterment coaching, speaking engagements, and a number of published books.

I am truly living in creativity and fulfillment. Of course, I still experience emotional pain, loss, and stress—yet, I have a baseline of "rooted happiness" and I know how to elevate my frequency so that I can realign with all that I love to do, be, and have.

I want the same for you. And, I know that when people elevate their consciousness and their frequency, they simply no longer have a reward response with low thoughts and behaviors. All of those reasons are my "why" and mission.

Society may put us in boxes, but that doesn't mean you have to stay there. So, break free and start living your fulfilling life with unapologetic confidence.

Please know this: What you want—that dream, goal, or relationship—has a frequency. It is only a matter of being in the flow with that frequency and then actively choosing it.

As your cheerleader and mentor, let me show you how to get there.

"We’re social creatures and we do give off energy and vibes. An event or influence can have a small effect and start to work on you in a positive or negative way. You probably don’t realize that you are starting to think differently, so it really is like you’re catching a silent factor that you might not be aware of."

- Dr. Gerald J. Haeffel, Department of Psychology, University of Notre Dame

"Penelope, you're a natural."

- Dr. Phil McGraw, The Dr. Phil Show

"It’s really an interesting concept—these infectious agents that you’re calling them. Maybe you’re a person who doesn’t have enough ‘Teflon’ (emotional armor), so things stick to you. Turn off media and social media at a certain point. I think social media can make it hard to have ‘Teflon’ these days because sometimes you can be constantly reminded of what is negative. I think there’s something to it, it’s like you get this virus, you get this infectious agent."
